DefianceScorn, insolence, rebelliousness, insubordination, resistance, opposition, confrontation, disobedience, noncompliance, recalcitrance, contemptQUOTES
There is no week nor day nor hour when tyranny may not enter upon this country, if the people lose their roughness and spirit of defiance.
And yet… it moves.
The defiance of established authority… as a world-wide phenomenon may well one day be accounted the outstanding event of the last decade.
Dying is not difficult, yielding is impossible.
…nearly all the great things that exist owe their existence to a defiant despite: it is despite grief and anguish, despite poverty, loneliness, bodily weakness, vice and passion and a thousand inhibitions, that they have come into being at all.
Though I sit down now, the time will come when you will hear me.
I have not yet begun to fight.
In war: resolution. In defeat: defiance. In victory: magnanimity. In peace: goodwill.
What though the field be lost? All is not lost; the unconquerable Will,And study of revenge, immortal hate,And courage never to submit or yield: and what is else not to be overcome?
